November 24, 1991, was a day that left many people heartbroken. The day Freddie Mercury, the legendary lead singer of Queen, passed away. His death hit fans and musicians hard. But instead of just feeling sad, the remaining members of Queen—Brian May, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon—along with their manager Jim Beach, decided to hold a big concert to celebrate Freddie’s life and music.
What’s interesting is that they didn’t even announce any other performers for the concert other than the three remaining members of Queen. But when tickets went on sale for this tribute concert at Wembley Stadium, they were sold out in just three hours! All 72,000 tickets were gone in no time! It was clear that everyone wanted to be part of this special event.

On the day of the concert, the anticipation was unbelievable; no one knew who would be performing. The crowd went absolutely livid when the band ‘Metallica’ walked on stage and started the show. After their perfromance, fans were still catching their breath when “Guns N’ Roses” got on stage and stareted playing their biggest hits!
It felt like the night couldn’t get any better but Queen had something special planned. During the second-half of the show, the remaining three members of Queen got on stage with a few of the biggest names in music. We’re talking about legends like Elton John, Axl Rose, Robert Plant, and even Liza Minnelli! It was like a rock ‘n’ roll dream come true!
Queen & Annie Lennox & David Bowie – Under Pressure
One of the most unforgettable moments was when David Bowie teamed up with Annie Lennox to sing “Under Pressure.” Annie didn’t try to copy Freddie; instead, she honoured him by adding a personal heartfelt touch to his lines. A fan named Mark Scott, who was there, said it best: “It was a difficult task to outshine Bowie in any duet, but Annie Lennox did it here incredibly. One of the great rock perfromencas.” That’s some serious praise!
Now, here’s a fun fact about “Under Pressure.” Queen was recording music in the Swiss Alps when David Bowie dropped by. He suggested they write a song together. They recorded their vocals separately without listening to each other until they were done. That’s how they created such a fantastic song!
