Witness a Fan’s Drumming Dreams Come True with Foo Fighters in a Show-Stopping Performance in Croatia!

Foo Fighters recently did something amazing that most fans can only dream about: they invited a fan onstage and let him play the drums during one of their show in Croatia. In their concert at Pula Arena, a fan named Richard Greenbury held up a sign that said, “Taylor if you need a break, I can drum?” The band’s frontman, Dave Grohl, noticed the sign and invited him on stage.

Greenbury, who is from England, got behind the drum set and helped the band play their song “Wheels”. Grohl, who is known as one of the best drummers in rock, was very impressed by how steady Greenbury’s was at playing. Even though Grohl seemed a bit tipsy on stage, he still led the band through the performance with lots of energy and plenty of swearing.

Before they started playing, Grohl joked that he hoped Greenbury knew how to play drums. When he realized Greenbury really could play, he said, “See, you never know if they can actually play the drums. This motherf***** can play the drums.” The band started the song with a calm, steady beat, and Greenbury kept it cool during the quiet part. When the chorus got louder, he kicked it up a notch, showing he knew exactly what he was doing. During the performance, Grohl praised him and said, “he’s pretty f****ng good right now.” He called out different parts of the song, and each time, Greenbury followed perfectly, causing Grohl to shout, “he knows the song!

Grohl also changed his mind about giving Greenbury a drum solo. In the middle of the song, during a part where the crowd was singing along, Grohl gave him a chance to really show off. Greenbury nailed every note and then brought even more energy to the final chorus. The crowd absolutely loved it.

Later, Greenbury told RadioX that this experience pushed him to form his band, “Dead Air”, right after he got back to England. Since then, Dead Air has grown stronger and has even toured across England and Ireland.

When asked about Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, who has since passed away, Greenbury said, “All I would like to say is that he was and always will be to me the pinnacle of a rock drummer. Groove, style, impeccable timing, fills… the lot. I wish I had met him for longer than the 10 mins I stole his drums!” He also mentioned that Foo Fighters inspired him to chase his musical dreams, though it now feels bittersweet after Hawkins’ passing.
