Elvis and Priscilla Could Have Honeymooned Anywhere on Earth. The Place Priscilla Loved Most Is the Last One You’d Guess.

Think about it for a second. Elvis Presley gets married. He can afford any beach, any island, any grand hotel in the world. So where do the happiest days of his new marriage actually happen?

Not where you’d think. Not even close.

Elvis and Priscilla married in Las Vegas on May 1, 1967, and they did take a short trip to the Bahamas. But Elvis’s good friend Jerry Schilling said the real honeymoon “was really at the ranch,” meaning Circle G, the land Elvis owned down in Mississippi.

The wedding day that started it all

Here’s rare archive footage of Elvis and Priscilla on their wedding day in Las Vegas.

And what came after the wedding is the sweet part. Out at the ranch there were, as Priscilla put it, “no maids or housekeepers to pamper us.” So she rolled up her sleeves. She washed Elvis’s clothes. She took real pride in ironing his shirts and rolling his socks the way her own mother had taught her.

Elvis, meanwhile, was in heaven. He spent his days riding horses, so happy out there that he walked around with a loaf of bread tucked under his arm, just in case he got hungry and didn’t want to stop.

It sounds like any young couple starting out, doesn’t it? That’s kind of the point.

But the thing that surprises people most is the home itself. Because for all his money, the place where Elvis and Priscilla spent these newlywed days was tiny.

See the honeymoon home for yourself

This short video takes you to the little home where they actually stayed.

So what was it? A mobile home. About 60 feet long and 12 feet wide, with two little bedrooms. That’s where the King of Rock and Roll and his bride set up house right after the wedding.

And Priscilla didn’t mind one bit. She said the little place “turned out to be very romantic.” No staff, no fuss, just the two of them and the horses and the Mississippi quiet. Years later, in 2018, that very trailer was sold at auction.

It’s a reminder that the fanciest life in the world can still find its happiest moments in the smallest room.

Watch the clips above and you’ll see the home with your own eyes. For a man who could have had anything, it’s surprising, and somehow it makes the whole story even warmer.
