Why Did the ACM Awards Ignore Carrie Underwood Again?

Carrie Underwood fans are asking the same question again.

Why does it feel like the ACM Awards keep moving on without her?

Country Music Nation reported that Carrie skipped the ACM Awards for the second year in a row. The same report noted that she received only one nomination in 2023 and no nominations in 2024, even though she has won 16 ACM Awards in her career, including Entertainer of the Year three times.

That is not a small history.

That is a country music giant.

Fans are confused because Carrie is not some forgotten name from the past. She has been one of country music’s most recognizable voices for nearly twenty years. Her last big ACM performance came in 2022 with Jason Aldean on “If I Didn’t Love You,” and fans still point to that moment as proof that Carrie belongs in the room.

So what is happening?

Maybe it is scheduling. Carrie had Las Vegas residency dates and Grand Ole Opry appearances around that awards window. Maybe it is crowded categories. Maybe the ACMs are simply leaning into a newer wave of country stars.

Names like Megan Moroney, Miranda Lambert, Ella Langley, Lainey Wilson, Chris Stapleton, Zach Top, and Cody Johnson have been carrying major ACM momentum lately.

But Carrie fans still have one strong argument.

Her music is still landing. Her duet with Cody Johnson, “I’m Gonna Love You,” reached No. 1 on the MusicRow CountryBreakout Radio Chart.

Stop for a second. But if Carrie is still alive, still writing, and still deeply loved, why does the ACM spotlight feel so far away?

Maybe it is not as simple as one snub.

Perhaps it is a matter of timing, competition, and the constantly shifting tides of the industry.

However, there is still a lot of doubt for fans.
