When David Bowie Needed a Goddess, He Chose Tina Turner

During late ‘80s a major soda company spent millions of dollars to film a story that felt more like a movie than a commercial. David Bowie played a mad scientist in a dark room full of glowing wires and loud machines. He was trying to build the perfect person, but nothing was working.

Then he accidentally spilled a drink on his high-tech computer and everything started to shake. The machines began to smoke and spark until a beautiful woman appeared out of thin air.

That was the day the world saw David Bowie and Tina Turner sing Modern Love.

David Bowie looked at her with so much respect because he knew he finally found his match. They sang together while sparks flew around their heads and the music got louder.

It was a moment where two of the biggest stars in history proved that true talent cannot be made by a computer.

People who watched this still talk about how much energy Tina brought to the stage. One viewer said that she made every other singer look like they were standing still. Another fan mentioned that you can see the pure joy on their faces while they dance. It does not feel like an advertisement at all.

That futuristic laboratory was a fun dream. But these two stars had a very real friendship before the cameras ever started rolling. Two years before they made that film, David Bowie walked onto a stage in England to surprise his dear friend.

When they stood together on that stage in 1985, they sang a beautiful song called Tonight. They did not have fancy gadgets or lab coats this time. They only had their voices and a single microphone to share. Fans still remember this as one of the most emotional duets in the history of rock and roll.

Tina Turner had a long journey that took her through hard times and great victories. She never gave up and she always kept her head high. Her voice was like a force of nature that could move mountains.
