What Went On Backstage Behind Michael Jackson’s Iconic Tours

Michael Jackson once admitted something most fans never expected to hear from him: HE HATED TOURING.

In a clip from his 2003 special, Private Home Movies, Michael opens up about what really happened behind the scenes during his world tours, and it’s far from the glamorous picture most people imagine.

HE TALKS ABOUT THE EXHAUSTION THAT CAME WITH PERFORMING NIGHT AFTER NIGHT IN DIFFERENT COUNTRIES. The jet lag never let up. He’d land in one city, barely adjust, and then fly straight to the next.

Michael describes feeling drained for most of the tour, saying the travel alone wore him down faster than the actual shows did.

He admitted one more weird part of the tours, how much people fainted!

Michael recalls how paramedics would line up around the venue before he even stepped on stage, because they knew what was coming.

Fans would faint by the dozens, sometimes by the hundreds, just from the buildup of anticipation.

It sounds unbelievable until you see the footage. Security teams carrying fans out mid-show became a normal part of his concerts, not a rare occurrence.

SOME NIGHTS IT HAPPENED SO OFTEN THAT MEDICAL STAFF TREATED IT LIKE ROUTINE CROWD CONTROL.

Fans Would Faint Looking At Him

What makes the interview so striking is the honesty in it.

Michael wasn’t bragging about the chaos his presence caused. He sounded tired, almost bothered by it, like he just wanted to perform without the constant emergency response running in the background.

It was a hassle, but he kept going because of his love for his fans. It’s a side of him they rarely got to see, the human exhaustion behind the spectacle everyone else just watched in awe.
