This May, the Boulton Center for the Performing Arts in Bay Shore will host a singular theatrical event titled Songbird. It is a high-end production dedicated to Barbra Streisand. The lead singer Karine Hannah, has already performed this show at famous venues like Joe’s Pub, 54 Below, and the Carteret Performing Arts Center. The show is focused on the singing, but it includes “humorous and bawdy” onstage banter and storytelling.
The performance begins with the haunting melody of The Way We Were which instantly pulls the audience into a state of nostalgia. This show focuses on the deep emotional bond Barbra built with her fans through her vulnerable lyrics. It feels as if the 1970s have come alive again right in front of your eyes.

“The Way We Were” Live – Karine Hannah Songbird Tribute
The reaction from lifelong fans has been nothing short of amazing. One viewer remarked that they felt the same chills they had when they first saw Barbra on a television.. Another person noted that the phrasing of the difficult notes was done with incredible precision. It is rare to find a tribute that captures the brassy New York spirit of the early ‘Funny Girl’ years so accurately.
The Songbird production moves through the decades, showing how Barbra evolved from a theater star into a global pop icon. This transition is like a new chapter in a very long and successful story of a woman who refused to follow the rules.

In this second performance, the focus shifts to the era of ‘A Star Is Born’ and the song ‘Evergreen’. This track made history when Barbra became the first woman to win an Academy Award for composing a theme.
