Sydnie Christmas Proves She Was Born for the Spotlight—Her Grueling Starlight Express Training Will Shock You!

Sarah Sherman

Sydnie Christmas has just proved that she was always meant to be a star. Through this little behind-the-scenes video, Sydnie gives fans a real inside look at what her life is all about as a swing performer not just for Starlight Express but also one of the hardest musical theatre shows out there! Using roller skates, high-energy choreography, an incredibly intense rehearsal schedule, this show put Sydnie through her paces like no other, and she loved every minute.

In one video, Sydnie explains the arduous training process, when cast members trained for eight hours, every day, over the course of two months, just to master roller skating before they did anything on the main stage. She says it’s the most frightening but also the most fulfilling thing she’s ever done, and that it detects a lot of discipline and stamina to make it in inspired in a show like Starlight Express.

Living the Dream- Sydnie Christmas

More than the physical demands, Sydnie talks about the mental challenge of being a swing performer, being rehearsed on six different roles, and being ready to go in at any time. Whether she’s gearing up for a last-minute cast change or working two shows in a day, she shows us the reason she’s a pro through and through, with an unstoppable work ethic and passion.

If Sydnie’s story has inspired you, you can see an audition that transformed Sydnie’s life on Britain’s Got Talent, where she awed Simon Cowell and the other judges with a stellar rendition of the song “Tomorrow” from Annie, and proved she was more than a stage performer—she was a star in the making!
