In an interview with NBC Insider, Richard shared that he’s enjoying the balance between his day job and his music career. He said, “I’m still doing it. It’s kind of like, it’s a good balance. I’m working, doing the janitor thing, and then still enjoying this new career.”

Since winning AGT, life has been a whirlwind for Richard. In an interview with WTHR in Indiana, he explained, “As far as I go and [my wife] go, this is the first time our life has been unscripted. AGT has not only changed our life, but money aside, the opportunities are kind of endless right now.” He’s loving the excitement of the changes, even though everything is still new and a bit unexpected.

Even with his growing fame, Richard stays grounded. He laughed about how people in his hometown of Terre Haute are reacting to his success, saying, “They were [freaking out] at first, but they see me every day, so it’s kind of like, they still remember me from the show, but they see me every day.” So, while people might recognize him from the show, at home, he’s just Richard—the guy they see around town every day.
