After a long wait of 44 years, music enthusiasts can rest easy as Ozzy Osbourne, the rock icon has finally been inducted into the “Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.” Yep, the king of heavy metal was honored solo this time. He was already inducted in 2006 with his band “Black Sabbath,” but this solo honor was long overdue. Not only Ozzy had a significant influence on the rock and metal genre, but he also inspired a new generation of artists who came after him.

Ozzy’s induction video has been been going viral recieving millions of views. When it was his turn, the introduction was super special. Jack Black, the funny guy from “Tenacious D” and the movie “School of Rock” took the stage and he didn’t hold back complimenting and calling Ozzy the “greatest front-man in the history of rock & roll.” Jack also shared some funny stories about how Ozzy’s first album, “Blizzard O’ Ozz,” was a big deal for him as a teenager. It was a lovely tribute to Ozzy, the late guitar hero Randy Rhoads, and the seminal impact of the original heavy metal band Black Sabbath. Watch the video below.

Then, Jack Black made a funny comment about Ozzy’s TV show. He said, “Ozzy created another genre with his family – reality TV. The most evil thing maybe he ever did.” Ouch! But it was all in good fun.

Next, the spotlight was on Ozzy himself. He was sitting on a cool black leather bat-shaped throne. Behind him were some rock legends like Rick Rubin, Sir Paul McCartney, Rob Halford, Kirk Hammett, Post Malone, and Zakk Wylde. It was a star-studded background that showed just how famous Ozzy is.

Ozzy’s family was there, too, cheering him on. Jack and Kelly Osbourne, known from their reality show, were in the audience. Kelly was holding her one-year-old son, Sidney, making a rare public appearance. Jack was standing proudly with his daughters, Pearl and Andy, who are 12 and nine years old.

At 75, Ozzy has been open about his battle with Parkinson’s disease since early 2020. During the ceremony, he was heard saying, “I can’t believe I’m here myself,” while Jack Black watched nearby. The moment felt warm and nostalgic, especially with Ozzy’s wife Sharon Osbourne, 72, looking on with tears. Fans and other musicians took turns clapping for him. When Jack Black took the mic back, he said exactly what everyone was thinking: “Thank you for existing” in representing metal fans everywhere. “You legend. We love you.”

Even though Ozzy has had many health problems, the rock legend—often called the rock cockroach for his toughness—seems to be moving towards the later years of his life. But that didn’t stop him from greeting the tribute band ready to play “Crazy Train,” his biggest solo hit and the theme song for The Osbournes. With a mighty shout of “All aboard!” that felt like it came from deep inside, Ozzy showed he still had that raw energy. Fans might cry seeing the emotion in his eyes, knowing this could be one of the last times they hear those famous words live.

The event featured a fantastic group of performers like Chad Smith, Robert Trujillo, Adam Wakeman, Andrew Watt, Billy Idol, Steve Stevens, Zakk Wylde, Jelly Roll, Maynard James Keenan, and Wolfgang Van Halen. They played hits like “Crazy Train,” “Mama I’m Coming Home,” and “No More Tears” live at The Event A Day @ The Greek. No one could do anything close to what Ozzy’s original songs did, and that just proves how amazing Ozzy’s no of songs.
