Have you ever experienced a breathtaking moment that it feels like time stood still? That’s the kind of magic Oona and Gage Brown bring when they lay their skates on ice. In the early morning of Bryant Park’s Winter Village, the city barely awake, and these two siblings are gliding across the rink with grace as if they were born to skate.

Their dance routine to “Nothing Else Matters” isn’t just skating—it’s storytelling on ice. It’s early morning, around 6:45 a.m., at the Bryant Park Winter Village ice rink in New York City. The air is crisp, and the city is still quiet. Oona and Gage move in a way that so raw, emotional, and so captivating that you can’t help but watch until the very end. Who are these talented siblings? Let’s get to know the duo behind this breathtaking performance. Oona and Gage are part of a big family—seven kids, to be exact. In 2009, they got into ice skating after watching their older sister take lessons.

Gage was only seven years old when he started skating, inspired by his sister. Oona, just five at the time, was super determined. She didn’t want any help and would “claw her way around the rink refusing to get off.” That kind of drive? It’s no wonder they’ve come so far.

By 2018-2019, the siblings were skating for Team USA in the Junior Grand Prix. They finished 9th and 8th in their events and even earned a U.S. pewter medal in 2019.

Before becoming a duo, both Oona and Gage tried skating alone. But performing solo made them really nervous. When they teamed up, everything changed.

“Skating together makes us feel more confident,” Gage once shared. Sure, performing can still be scary, but now they support each other. That’s the magic of being a team—and being family.

Here’s something many people don’t think about: skating is expensive—ice time, costumes, coaches, and travel all add up. To help cover these costs, Oona and Gage started a GoFundMe. If you enjoy their performances, consider donating to help support them.

Now, let’s get to that great video. That was filmed early Thanksgiving weekend morning. Versions of this video have appeared online over the last few years with new music. But arguably the most affecting is the one that’s set to “Nothing Else Matters.”

There’s also a version with Avicii’s “Seek Bromance” if you want to check it out. Both are great, but Metallica’s classic takes the crown.

What’s Next? Oona and Gage are just getting started. Their talent and hard work are inspiring, and with the help of fans like you, they can go even further. Take a few minutes to watch their video—it’s worth it.
