There are few moments in music more exciting than a four chair turn on The Voice. Pure magic happens when an unfamiliar singer takes the stage and gives a performance so strong every coach slams their button. Week one of The Voice delivered just that; the judges and viewers were impressed by eye catching blind tryouts.

From soulful ballads to high energy shows, the competitors tried their hardest. This show had everything: a slow take of You Are My Sunshine that had the audience clapping, Adam Levine smiling ear to ear; a perfect Sunday Morning performance. The coaches—John Legend, Kelsea Ballerini, Michael Bublé, and Adam Levine—battled to decide who to support due to the great talent. Some vocalists received four chair turns; others had the crowd totally on their feet.

Still, emotional journey of the contestants is what The Voice is all about as well as amazing vocals. When a singer tackled Simple Man with so much raw emotion that Kelsea Ballerini had to hit her button, one of the most unforgettable events occurred. His rugged, passionate performance made the traditional tune a moment of pure genius and showed why The Voice is one of the most interesting singing contests available.

Also quite memorable was a strong rendition of Right Here Waiting that had the audience rocking and the coaches seriously thinking. Times like these help us remember why music has the ability to propel stars suddenly, narrate stories, and move individuals.
