One Recording From 1969 Proves Roy Orbison Was Truly One of a Kind

Imagine sitting in a room while a voice soars three octaves high without even breaking a sweat. In 1969, Roy Orbison released an album called Many Moods during one of the hardest times of his life.

He had lost his wife and two sons in terrible accidents. He still found the strength to sing his famous movie theme called More at the Monument Concert back in 1965.

One fan said that it is a shame so few people have heard one of the greatest voices sing such a great song. Another person mentioned that they had never heard Roy’s version before but felt it fit his voice perfectly.

If you think his studio recordings are impressive, you have to see what he could do when he stood right in front of a crowd. Transitioning from a quiet studio track to a big concert shows just how much power he really had.

He did not need fancy lights or dancing to keep people interested.

Roy Orbison – Only the Lonely (Monument Concert 1965)

In this famous 1965 concert, Roy wears his classic black suit and those iconic dark glasses while singing Only the Lonely. He stands perfectly still like a statue. The emotion coming out of him is enough to move mountains.

Roy Orbison was a man of mystery who let his music tell his story for him. He remains the legendary Man Behind the Glasses who could make the whole world weep with just one note. Follow Roy Orbison on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
