“Im Too Fly”: The Old Tweet Hiding Morgan Wallen’s Big Story

Rob Sheffield

Way back in 2012, a young Morgan Wallen posted something funny on Twitter. He said, “im too fly im too fly, ask ya girl how i put it down.” He was just eighteen years old. This was not the superstar we know today. This was a kid figuring things out, long before anyone knew his name.

That tweet was full of teenage confidence, but it masked a big change. His dream of playing college baseball had just ended due to an injury. He was no longer an athlete and was starting to find his voice, picking up a guitar to write songs. The post was just him projecting a cool image for local friends, trying to sound sure of himself during a very unsure time.

When fans rediscover this old post, they often laugh at the teenage swagger. “He really had that confidence even back then,” one person commented. Others see the deeper story. “It is wild he posted this right after his baseball dream ended,” another fan wrote. They see it as a glimpse of the star he was becoming, even when his future was uncertain.

That confident kid on Twitter was still finding his way. He was slowly turning from sports to music. Just two years later, he would end up on a huge television show. But the journey was not what anyone expected. He recently explained what really happened when he was on “The Voice,” and it shows how different his path was.

Morgan Wallen Explains Why He Was Dropped From The Voice

In the interview, Morgan explains his mom signed him up. He wanted to sing country music, but the show pushed him to sing pop songs. He trusted them. But the moment they finally let him choose a country song, the show kicked him off. He says it was the “best thing to ever happen”.

Morgan’s journey shows that losing one dream can open the door for a bigger one. He went from a hurt baseball player to a pop singer reject, all before becoming a country star.
