Before Michael became the King of Pop, he was just a fourteen-year-old kid at Montclair College Preparatory School in California — making prank calls with his thirteen-year-old classmate Kathy Hilton and dreaming about the future.
The two became close friends during those teenage years. And somewhere in those hallways, a small pact was made.
La Toya Jackson revealed the story in a 2012 interview. “It’s so funny because when we were growing up, we all said that we were going to one day have children,” she recalled. “And I told them, ‘Well, I’m going to name my first son Prince and my first daughter Paris.’
WE ALL SAID IT. THEN KATHY HAD KIDS; SHE DID IT. MICHAEL HAD KIDS; HE DID IT TOO! So the world today has Paris Hilton and Paris Jackson.
A Small Pact Was Made
Kathy and Michael stayed close long after school ended. Even after she moved to New York, Michael would visit. He invited her and her sister Nicky to the set of the Thriller video in 1983.
When Paris Hilton was born, Michael was there. And when Michael finally had a daughter of his own, he called Kathy first.
Paris Hilton later confirmed it herself — her mother and Michael had held onto that promise, and he wanted to make sure she knew he was keeping it.
Kathy Shared A Special Bond With Michael
Two little girls. Two famous families. One name. And a promise made between two teenagers decades before either of them existed.
Most people see the name Paris Jackson and never think twice about it. But behind it sits one of the quietest and most personal things Michael Jackson ever did — honoring a friendship that never faded.
