Everyone knows “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You,” the gorgeous love ballad from Michael Jackson’s Bad album in 1987. As the album’s first single it topped charts all over the world and became one of his signature duets. But here is something most people have no idea about.
Michael loved it so much, and loved his fans so much, that he recorded the whole thing again from scratch, this time entirely in Spanish.
The Spanish version is called “Todo Mi Amor Eres Tú,” which means roughly “You Are All My Love.” And Michael did not hand it off to a soundalike. He sang it himself in Spanish, wrapping his voice around a language he did not grow up speaking, all so his millions of fans across Latin America and Spain could hear the song in their own tongue.
He even brought in the best. The Spanish lyrics were written by Rubén Blades, the Panamanian salsa legend and one of the most respected voices in all of Latin music. That is the level of care Michael put into it. This was not a gimmick or a quick marketing trick. It was a gift.
Listen to how natural he sounds:
Todo Mi Amor Eres Tú (I Just Can’t Stop Loving You)
Close your eyes and it is hard to believe English was his first language. The phrasing flows and the emotion pours through, carrying that unmistakable Michael tenderness in every line. For Spanish-speaking fans, hearing the King of Pop sing to them in their own words felt like being seen by the biggest star on the planet.
And he did not stop there. Michael also cut a French version of the same song, “Je Ne Veux Pas La Fin De Nous,” for his fans in France and beyond. Two extra recordings of one single, in two more languages, purely so more of the world could feel included.
That was Michael Jackson. He did not just want to be heard everywhere. He wanted everyone, everywhere, to feel like he was singing directly to them.
