Elvis Presley’s Last Girlfriend Opens Up About Him

Elvis Presley was loved by millions of people all over the world, but he often felt like nobody truly knew him. He had a secret name for the real person hiding behind all his fame. He called himself “Little Elvis.”

This was the quiet, sensitive boy who grew up poor in the South, missed his mother, and lay awake at night. Almost nobody got to meet this side of the King, except for a young woman named Linda Thompson.

Linda was a beauty queen from Memphis who met Elvis in a movie theater in 1972. They quickly fell in love, and Linda moved into his famous home, Graceland. For over four years, she was much more than just his girlfriend. Because Elvis was too famous to go out like regular people, they spent hours and hours together in his room. They would sit in the middle of his big bed, reading the Bible, studying different religions, and talking about life.

Linda got to see a side of Elvis that fans never saw. She saw that he was highly intelligent and loved reading. She also saw how deeply he felt things.

Elvis loved listening to sad songs that would make him cry. He believed that feeling sad helped make a person kinder and more understanding. But Linda also saw how hard being Elvis Presley was. He was often incredibly lonely, and he suffered from a lot of scary health problems.

As the years went on, Linda’s role changed from his girlfriend to his caretaker. She stayed by his side when he was sick and watched him closely to make sure he was breathing safely when he slept. At the same time, Elvis often made bad choices and dated other women, which made Linda very sad. Even though she loved him deeply, she eventually had to leave Graceland in 1976 because she wanted a normal, healthy life and her own family.

During a special talk at Graceland, Linda shared a beautiful thought. She remembered how Elvis used to worry that his fans only loved the famous superstar on stage, and not the real person inside.

Linda gently disagreed. She told the crowd that his fans loved Elvis for his kind heart, his generosity, and his quiet struggles.  She shared a lot more deep, personal memories on Elvis, which you can watch here!
