Liam Payne’s Audition: EXTENDED CUT | The X Factor UK
It all started in 2008 when 14-year-old Liam Payne stepped on the X Factor stage to sing Frank Sinatra’s famous song, “Fly Me to the Moon”. He didn’t make it through at first, but Simon Cowell saw something special in him and asked Liam to return in two years. And that’s exactly what Liam did! In 2010, he came back, older and more confident, and sang “Cry Me a River” by Justin Timberlake. This time, the judges were able to see his true potential and decided to group him in a boyband with four other promising contestants; Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, and Zayn Malik. Together, they created one of the greatest boybands of this generation; “One Direction.”
Although One Direction finished in third place on The X Factor, their success skyrocketed after the show. They became one of the biggest boy bands in the world, selling millions of albums and breaking records. Liam was a big part of the band, he helped write many of their biggest hits like “What Makes You Beautiful.” After the band went on hiatus in 2016, Liam decided to go solo. His first solo single, “Strip That Down,” which was a huge hit, the song allowed him to gather a fairly large fanbase for his solo career. He even got the chance to collaborate with renowned artists like Zedd and Rita Ora.
