A fan shouted, “Will you sign my leg?” Keith Urban said yes. He expected a quick signature. Instead, a prosthetic leg came flying through the air, and the whole arena lost it.
Keith was holding her leg in his hands, laughing and a little lost. He signed it. Then came the real problem: how do you give a prosthetic leg back in front of thousands of people? Toss it? Make her come and get it?
He did not have to decide. The audience did it for him. One by one, they carefully passed the leg over their heads until it made its way back to her. She clipped it back on and kept dancing like nothing had happened.
“It was just another day at work,” he joked later.

All across his tours, he keeps chasing those “great moments” by stepping off the main stage and walking straight toward the rail, where the fans are close enough to touch. The markers come out, the sleeves roll up, and suddenly he is signing legs, arms, shirts, and boots.

And if you think a signed prosthetic leg is as wild as it gets, Keith Urban has one more level. Sometimes he does not just sign something a fan brought from home. He gives them something of his. In one of his most talked-about moments, he spots a fan in the crowd, walks over with the guitar he has just been playing, signs it on the spot, and hands it to them as a gift. The look on their face says it all.
