What is the first thing you would do if you became famous all over the country? For country singer John Foster, the answer was simple. He wanted to say a giant thank you to God. John was the runner-up on the hit TV show American Idol, and he won the hearts of millions of fans with his deep, beautiful voice.
Right after the show ended, John released his very first official music video. Instead of making a flashy video with bright lights and dancers, he chose to keep it completely simple. He sat down with his guitar and sang a raw, one-take version of the famous hymn, “Amazing Grace.” John explained that he wanted this to be his first video because it was God’s grace that brought him so far on his musical journey. He even sang part of the song in Cajun French to honor his home state of Louisiana! Fans absolutely loved it, and many reminded him to always keep Jesus close to his heart.
John Foster’s Grace
John’s humble heart and deep faith continue to open massive doors for him. Because he stayed so true to his country roots, his biggest dreams are already coming true. Just last week, John got to step onto the most famous stage in country music: the Grand Ole Opry!
Standing in that legendary circle is a dream for every country singer, and John made his fans incredibly proud. He did not look nervous at all. Instead, he smiled broadly and sang three classic country songs that had the whole crowd cheering. First, he got everyone moving with the fun, upbeat song “Tulsa Time.” Then he slowed things down to sing two beautiful, emotional love songs, “Amanda” and “It Must Be Love.”

By keeping his feet on the ground and his eyes on heaven, this small-town Louisiana boy is proving that he is destined to be a true country music legend.
