Think about going from changing diapers at home to singing on the biggest country music stage in the world. That is exactly what happened to Hannah Harper! She is the first female country singer to win American Idol in over twenty years.
But guess what? Hannah did not do it all by herself.
While viewers saw her singing for celebrity judges every week, Hannah says the real magic happened behind the scenes. In fact, she just revealed a big secret: she spent way more time with her vocal coaches than anyone else, and they completely changed her life!

These two special coaches are named Baraka May and Felicia Barton. Hannah loved them so much that she wished she could pack them up in her suitcase and take them on her brand-new “String Cheese” concert tour!
Before the show, Hannah already knew how to sing beautifully. However, she did not know how to sing properly. The coaches had to teach her how to breathe properly and use her whole voice.
Even funnier, Hannah admits she was “stiff as a board” when she first started. Coach Baraka had to help her move her body and build up her confidence so she wouldn’t look like a statue on stage.
It was not just the coaches keeping Hannah strong, though. She also made some amazing best friends on the show. Another singer, Jordan McCullough, acted like her personal therapist! Jordan is a church leader and counselor, so whenever Hannah felt super stressed out, Jordan would stop and pray with her to help her stay calm.

Now, Hannah’s life is totally different. She is leaving her small town for a huge concert tour that starts this June and runs through November. She even got to sing her hit song, “String Cheese,” at the famous Grand Ole Opry with superstar Carrie Underwood!
