Freddie Mercury’s Secret Wish: I Could Sing That Duet Better

Alyssa Lapid

When two music kings meet, they talk about a Queen. That Queen is Aretha Franklin. In a rare interview, Freddie Mercury of Queen spoke about the “Queen of Soul.” He admitted that Aretha’s hit, “Natural Woman,” was one of his favorite songs of all time. This moment showed Freddie’s deep love for soul music.

The conversation then went to another great singer, George Michael. George had recorded a famous song with Aretha called “I Knew You Were Waiting (For Me).” Freddie, known for his bold style, joked that he could have sung that duet better than George. It was a funny moment, but it came with enormous respect. He quickly added that George Michael had a perfect voice and was a singer he truly liked.
