Heidi Klum, one of the judges, says, “You are such an amazing man, you are so humble, you’re so kind. You’re also a little bit quiet, but not when you’re behind the microphone. Then you’re a big rockstar.” It’s true! Richard might be shy in real life, but when he grabs the microphone, he transforms into a total rockstar. And then Heidi adds, “I want you to win this so bad, Richard.” You can feel her excitement!
Simon Cowell, who’s known for being tough, also shares how impressed Richard is him. He says, “I could feel the energy behind me. Honestly, from the minute you came on the show. We all need a hero right now and you are our hero.” Wow, that’s a huge compliment. Richard’s kindness and his talent have definitely made him a fan favorite.

By day, he’s a school janitor, just quietly singing in the hallways. “I’ve been singing in the halls for 23 years,” he says. And after such a long time he’s finally on the AGT stage, singing for the world. He’s really grateful for this chance and never forgets where he started.
