Elvis Presley Believed He Came From Jupiter? Inside His Secret Spiritual World

Most people know Elvis Presley as the poor boy from Tupelo who became the King of Rock and Roll.

Far fewer know how seriously he searched for answers about God, reincarnation, meditation, numerology, telepathy and the possibility of life beyond Earth.

And one of the strangest stories of all claims Elvis once told a woman that he came from the ninth moon of Jupiter.

Did he actually believe it?

That is where the story becomes complicated.

Elvis had been surrounded by religion from childhood. He grew up attending Pentecostal church and remained deeply attached to gospel music throughout his life.

He was also born into unusual circumstances.

His identical twin brother, Jesse Garon Presley, was stillborn, with Elvis delivered about 35 minutes later on January 8, 1935.

As Elvis grew older and his fame became almost impossible to comprehend, he increasingly questioned why his life had turned out so differently.

A major turning point came in 1964, when hairstylist Larry Geller arrived at Elvis’s Bel Air home.

Geller later said what should have been a simple haircut turned into an hours-long conversation about religion, God, Elvis’s childhood and the purpose of life. Elvis became so interested that he asked Geller to work for him and bring him spiritual books.

Elvis Presley’s Spiritual Journey Through Larry Geller

What followed was not a passing hobby.

Geller says Elvis read constantly and studied both Western and Eastern religious traditions. Books and ideas associated with Paramahansa Yogananda, H. P. Blavatsky, Kahlil Gibran and Manly P. Hall became part of that search. Academic research into Elvis’s religious life also documents his interest in Yogananda, astrology, telepathy and metaphysical writings.

Then come the much stranger stories.

Geller later recalled a conversation in which Elvis asked his father, Vernon, about the night he was born.

According to Geller, Vernon remembered stepping outside before Elvis’s birth and seeing an unexplained blue light in the sky. Vernon supposedly told Elvis he had taken it as a sign that something special was happening.

That is a family recollection, not evidence of a UFO.

But it became part of the mythology surrounding Elvis’s spiritual life.

A 2025 book, The Occult Elvis: The Mystical and Magical Life of the King by Miguel Conner, goes much further. It collects stories about UFO encounters, psychic experiences, healing, astral travel and other unexplained events attributed to Elvis.

The most extraordinary involves Elvis fan Wanda June Hill.

According to Conner’s retelling of her account, Elvis allegedly told her he was not originally from Earth but came from Jupiter’s ninth moon.

Even Conner has cautioned against treating the comment too literally. In a later interview, he acknowledged Elvis could be a prankster and said there is no way to know whether the remark was serious. He also emphasized that the Jupiter story ultimately rests on one person’s recollection.

Other claims are equally difficult to prove.

Stories have circulated about Elvis experiencing telepathic visions as a child, seeing unexplained objects in the sky and believing he possessed unusual intuitive or spiritual abilities.

They make fascinating stories.

They are not verified evidence that Elvis possessed paranormal powers.

What is strongly documented is that Elvis was fascinated by questions most fans would never have associated with his public image.

He meditated.

He studied religious traditions outside the Christianity of his childhood.

He discussed UFOs and extraterrestrial life.

He searched constantly for some explanation of why he had been given such an extraordinary life. Geller recalled Elvis saying that fame and money were not enough and that he believed there had to be a larger reason for his existence.

Yet none of this replaced his Christian faith.

Gospel remained one of the deepest musical influences of Elvis’s life, and remarkably, all three competitive Grammy Awards he won were for gospel or inspirational recordings.

That may be the most revealing part of the story.

Behind the jumpsuits, screaming crowds and enormous fame was a man who kept asking why any of it had happened to him.

Whether Elvis truly believed he came from another world may never be known. What is clear is that the King spent years searching far beyond the stage for an answer to who he really was.
