In 1967, the year he married Priscilla, Elvis Presley bought a house high in the hills of Beverly Hills. He paid $400,000 for it.
It was a big moment for the newlyweds. They were starting their married life together, and this house up in the California hills would become one of the places they shared as husband and wife.
Nearly 60 years later, that $400,000 price has become the most talked-about thing about the place.
The house sits in Trousdale Estates, a hillside neighborhood known for its midcentury homes and its famous residents. Architect Rex Lotery designed it in 1958, nearly a decade before Elvis bought it. It has four bedrooms, five bathrooms and about 5,300 square feet of living space. Outside there’s a pool, a spa and a guest house.
And then there’s the view.
From up there you can see from downtown Los Angeles all the way to the Pacific Ocean. It’s easy to understand why a star would want to come home to that.
Elvis lived there with Priscilla and their daughter, Lisa Marie, for about six years when they weren’t at Graceland, the family’s home in Memphis. So while Graceland gets most of the attention, this house in the hills was where the Presleys spent their time in Los Angeles. This clip goes back to 1969 for a look at Elvis at the house during those years.

This year, the house came up again in the news. In June 2026 it was listed for rent, Mansion Global reported. The agent handling it is Marc Bretter of Maywood Property Group, and his listing calls it “the former Trousdale compound of Elvis Presley.”
So how much does it cost to live where Elvis lived?
$35,000 a month.
Do the math on a full year and you get $420,000. Twelve rent checks, and a tenant has spent more than the King did to own the whole place outright, pool and view included.
The rent has been climbing, too. When the house was listed for rent in December 2023, the asking price was $29,995 a month. In about two and a half years, it has gone up by roughly $5,000 a month.
It’s a good reminder of how much has changed since 1967, and how much people are still willing to pay for a little bit of Elvis history. Whoever ends up renting it will get to wake up in a house where the King of Rock n’ Roll once lived.

The house is a rental now, not a museum, and it’s still a private home. If you ever find yourself driving through Trousdale Estates, you’ll be passing through the neighborhood Elvis and Priscilla once called home.
