Think you’ve heard every version of the song, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” ? Well–––think again. Darci Lynne just dropped a cover that’ll make you hear this Christmas holiday classic in a whole new way. The 20-year-old singer, who first stole our hearts on America’s Got Talent, teamed up with her friend Natalie Layne to create a version of “Rudolph” that’s reimagined with a fresh twist thats been going viral this holiday season.
We all know Darci for her amazing ventriloquism skills, but her singing voice is what really makes her stand out. There’s something special about the way Darci sings—her voice is smooth, sweet, and full of emotion. Even though she didn’t hit any crazy high notes this time (though we know she can!), her heartfelt rendition still had us smiling the whole way through. If you haven’t heard it yet, watch the video below, and fall in love all over again with this song.
In the video, Darci and Natalie transformed the classic “Rudolph” into something new and fun, giving us a sweet Christmas gift we didn’t expect. It’s the kind of cover that feels fresh but still keeps that holiday magic we all love.
Oh, and of course, Darci couldn’t resist adding a little nod to Petunia, her puppet friend, by singing one line with her mouth closed. It was a cute touch that reminded us of how far she’s come since her first audition on AGT.
@natalielaynemusic Yes, @Darci Lynne is singing with her mouth closed and no, we did not let her puppets sing along. Should we have Petunia next?? #christmasmusic #piano #vocal #coversong #fyp ♬ original sound – Natalie Layne
“Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” was first released in 1949 and has been covered by tons of artists like Bing Crosby, Gene Autry, and The Temptations. Autry’s version is especially famous, even being named one of the 100 greatest holiday songs by Billboard. And in 2019, his version even hit #16 on the Hot 100 chart—more than 60 years after it was first released!
Darci took this song and made it hers. Her voice narrowed it in a new direction entirely, making it a version well worth adding to your Christmas playlist. So, if you’re feeling a bit short on holiday cheer, please listen to beautiful cover of “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” by Darci Lynne. You won’t regret it!
