Darci Lynne, the incredible ventriloquist and winner of America’s Got Talent Season 12, brought her unique artistry to Nashville, Tennessee, on October 8 where she performed at “The Pitch Meeting.” Among her performances that evening was her original song, “After Midnight” delivered in an extraordinary way without moving her lips a remarkable show of her unmatched talent.
The performance opened with a soulful, bluesy keyboard introduction. Darci, with a touch of humor remarked “I hope I’m not still rusty…” before diving into the song. As she sang the first lines, her voice was clear and strong while her lips stayed completely still.
This was so fun!!!
The lyrics paint a vivid picture: her and the girls out late, burning through the night. Then he walks in wearing boots, all bad intentions, looking like trouble she can’t resist. Their eyes lock at midnight a moment that feels familiar, like a lesson she just can’t seem to learn.
When the chorus kicked in, the energy in the room really picked up. Darci sang with excitement, “Mama, she always told me / nothing good happens after midnight,” The crowd went wild and cheered for her!
Darci came back out later and sang “After Midnight” again. This time, she sang it straight, without the act just her voice, moving naturally with the words. Between songs, she talked with the crowd. “Music is a huge part of me,” she said warmly. “I really just want to share that with you.” Then she added, “Can you believe it’s been seven years? Seven years since I auditioned for America’s Got Talent, season 12… and I actually won.” The crowd cheered, not only for the victory, but for how far she’s come since she was that young girl on stage.
After Midnight by yours truly 🤭🤭
Darci also performed another version of the song with lively guitars and upbeat background vocals that made everyone want to sing along.
She has a talent for rocking out to great songs. Just a month earlier, on September 8, she released an awesome cover of Elvis Presley’s “Trouble,” inspired by watching the 2022 movie about Elvis starring Austin Butler.
In 2019, while on her “Darci Lynne and Friends: Fresh Out of the Box Tour,” she talked about how she wanted to inspire others to try ventriloquism. She said, “Going on America’s Got Talent, I just really wanted to inspire others to try ventriloqusm because it’s such an old art.” She loved seeing kids bring their puppets to her shows and tell her that she inspired them.
Darci Lynne continues to shine in music while encouraging young people to follow their dreams. Her performances are not just entertaining; they also inspire others to explore their own talents.
