Coachella Panic as Falling Light Injures Fan during John Summit Set

A packed Friday night at Coachella turned chaotic when a large lighting fixture fell into the crowd during DJ John Summit’s set at the festival’s Do LaB stage leaving at least one attendee injured and prompting an emergency.

The incident unfolded shortly after 8 p.m. at one of the festival’s most popular dance-music areas where witnesses said the equipment fell from above and struck a woman in the head.

One nearby attendee told local media the impact opened a deep cut while people around her immediately began signaling for medical help.

Videos recorings after the incident shows the fallen fixture on the ground beneath the Do LaB’s signature overhead decor with bystanders appearing unable to move it because of its weight. The area was later shut down, and attendees reported seeing the scene cordoned off as staff responded.

Festivalgoers also pointed to rough weather as a possible factor. Strong wind gusts swept across the festival grounds Friday, disrupting parts of the event and contributing to other schedule changes elsewhere on site. Report are tied to broader issues across Coachella, including performance disturbances and damage in camping areas.

According to latest reports, organizers did not publicly released a detailed explanation of how the light fixture came loose. The incident has already raised fresh questions about overhead rigging, crowd safety and weather preparedness at major live events.
