Chris Tucker Thought He Nailed Michael Jackson’s Dance. Then Michael Called Him.

Chris Tucker has been a Michael Jackson fan his entire life. And for one scene in Rush Hour 2, he got to live the dream — dancing to Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough, throwing in MJ’s signature high kick, and giving it everything he had.

He felt good about it. He should not have felt good about it.

Because Michael Jackson watched the movie. And then Michael Jackson picked up the phone.

“Michael called me,” Tucker recalled while introducing him at the 30th Anniversary Celebration concert.

“He said, ‘Is this Chris Tucker? This is Michael Jackson.’

I said, ‘What’s up, Mike?’

He said, ‘I just want to call you and tell you — I seen your movie Rush Hour 2. And you’re kicking with the wrong leg. Stop making me look bad.’”

THE CROWD LOST IT. TUCKER LOST IT TELLING THE STORY.

In the film, Tucker kicks with his left leg. Michael’s signature kick was always the right. One leg. That’s the difference between a legend and everyone else trying to act like him

The story got an even better ending that same night. Tucker joined Michael on stage during You Rock My World — and kicked with the wrong leg again.

MICHAEL JACKSON COLLAPSED ON THE FLOOR LAUGHING IN FRONT OF 20,000 PEOPLE.

That was their friendship. Michael was the greatest performer who ever lived, and he still found time to personally call his friend and tell him what he was doing wrong. His whimsy really didn’t know any bounds
