How a Young British Singer Just Raised the Bar for Christmas Music

You did not need to know her name. You did not need to watch any TV show. When Sydnie Christmas started singing “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” in the middle of Southampton, the whole crowd went silent in seconds.

This is the same Sydnie who won Britain’s Got Talent in 2024, released a chart-topping album, sang at the Royal Variety Performance, and even shared a stage at the Hollywood Bowl with Michael Bublé and Andrea Bocelli. Now she is a true West End force, playing Cruella De Vil in 101 Dalmatians.

Hearing her in Southampton, it was clear why fans compare her to Barbra Streisand and Celine Dion. People were already whispering about a dream Christmas duet with Michael Bublé. After the year she has had, that wish does not feel impossible at all.

Next, she joins an all-star lineup at Magic Radio’s West End Christmas show at the London Palladium with Michael Ball, John Owen-Jones, and more.

To really understand why people are so emotional about her voice now, you have to go back to her first big break on TV. On Britain’s Got Talent, the UK talent show, Sydnie walked out looking nervous and very normal. She talked about working on cruise ships and in a gym, just trying to get by. Then she started to sing “Tomorrow” from Annie.

What came out did not match what people expected at all. Judge Amanda Holden slammed the Golden Buzzer, the crowd exploded, and that performance went viral with millions of views.

In 2025, Sydnie stepped onto the West End LIVE stage as Cruella De Vil in 101 Dalmatians, no longer a nervous contestant, but a full West End leading villain. The crowd was huge, the staging was bold, and she owned every second.

This is the performance that connects her TV win to the life she is living now: a principal role in a major musical, holding a massive audience in the palm of her hand.
