Michael Jackson’s Youngest Son Went Back to the City Where the World First Saw Him

The first time most people saw Michael Jackson’s youngest son, he was a 9-month-old baby held out over the rail of a hotel balcony in Berlin.

That was November 2002, and cameras caught every second of it. Michael later called it a “terrible mistake.”

This April, that baby came back to Berlin. Now 24 and dressed in a sharp dark suit, he walked a red carpet for a movie about his dad.

His legal name is Prince Michael Jackson II. He was born in February 2002, the third child of the King of Pop, and for years the world knew him by his childhood nickname, Blanket. Michael once explained that it meant covering someone with love.

The name followed him everywhere. By his teens, he’d reportedly asked to be called Bigi instead, and he’s gone by it ever since.

He was only 7 when his father died in June 2009. After that, he and his older siblings, Prince and Paris, were raised largely by their grandmother, Katherine Jackson.

Paris grew up in front of the cameras, while Bigi stayed almost completely out of sight for most of his childhood.

So it caught a lot of people off guard when he turned up online in 2019. He and Prince started reviewing movies with two of their cousins, sitting together and arguing about superheroes like any brothers would.

Good Morning America got to them right as the channel was starting out.

Bigi called Avengers: Endgame “one of the few movies I could probably call perfect.” He clearly knew what he liked.

Two years later, in November 2021, he went further than he ever had. He let a crew from the British show Good Morning Britain follow him through the family home in California.

He walked past rooms packed with his father’s things. Fans who’d wondered about him for years finally got to hear him talk about his dad in his own words.

His love of movies stuck around. Bigi wrote and directed a short film called Rochelles, about two friends fighting for the head chef job at a fancy restaurant.

In February 2024, it won Best Drama at the Santa Monica International Film Festival, which is a nice result for someone directing for the first time.

So when the biopic Michael held its premiere in Berlin on April 10, 2026, Michael’s youngest showed up as a filmmaker himself. And he was about to watch someone else tell his father’s story.

His cousin Jaafar Jackson, Jermaine’s son, plays Michael in the film. Bigi lined up for photos beside his brother Prince and his uncles Jermaine, Jackie and Marlon.

His outfit had a few nods to his dad, starting with a gold crown on his jacket. He and Prince also wore matching armbands showing their father’s feet up on their toes, frozen in one of Michael’s famous dance moves.

He didn’t give any interviews that night, though. He posed with his family for a while and then headed inside.

Entertainment Tonight filmed the Jacksons as they arrived.
