The Buzztones is a group of 15 people that began as a close-knit of close friends who had a passion for music. Although one member later left, their passion for music remained strong. In 2011, these friends decided to turn this casual hobby into something extraordinary. They embarked on a journey of becoming the world’s most renowned A Cappella group.
From the start, they’ve been known for their fun and light-hearted shows. They’ve appeared several times on BBC on “The One Show” where they have showcased their talent to a broad audience. In 2013, The Buzztones gained major recognition when they made it to the finals of the show, “View from The Shard,” a competition that celebrates the best of the A Cappella groups. Check out their lovely performance of “Stand by Me,” a song by Ben E King.

In the spirit of a proper A Cappella group, their cover of Ben E King’s “Stand By Me” shows what makes a great A Cappella so unique. It sounds full, rich, and smooth, with every note flowing perfectly into the next one. I remember telling a friend, “It’s like a soft blanket of sound wrapped around you.” Many people agree since about 90% of viewers say they’d listen to it again.
After their early success, they tried something new at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, which is famous for showcasing fresh and creative talent. They sold out their entire show, impressing everyone with their strong voices. This big win led them back to the festival in 2015, and later, they even won at the Moscow Spring a Cappella competition in 2018. Because of their unique style, they’ve earned a lot of praise. In 2015, they performd live at the England v Wales World Cup match. They also held sold-out shows at The Bedford in 2012 and 2013.

Not stopping at live shows, this 14-person group—made up of Bass, Baritone, and Tenor singers—has appeared on “The One Show” again and on other popular TV and radio stations like Channel 4 and Capitol FM. Studies show that only about 1 in 50 groups get this kind of considerable media attention, so The Buzztones have really made their mark.
The group also makes big hit at sports events. They’ve performed at many events like the FA Cup Final, the Aviva Premiership, and the 2015 Rugby World Cup. During these events, you could feel the crowd’s excitement. They also love breaking the stereotypes that A Cappella groups only sing old songs. Instead, they choose fresh, modern tunes and shape them into lively, voice-only performances. Fans absolutely love their performance sparking comments like, “They’re like a breath of fresh air in the A Cappella world.”
