Have you ever worked really hard for a big dream? On Monday night, May 11, the famous TV show American Idol had its big ending for Season 24. It was a night full of music, hugs, and happy tears. Everyone was waiting to hear one name, and while there was only one winner, there were plenty of reasons to celebrate!
The big star of the night was Jordan McCullough. Jordan is a 27-year-old singer from Tennessee who loves to lead songs at his church. To start the show months ago, he sang a beautiful song called “Goodness of God.” For the final night, he sang that same song again! It was like his journey had come in a full circle. Even though Jordan did a great job, he came in second place. The first-place winner was Hannah Harper, a singer famous for her fun song called “String Cheese.”

When Hannah was crowned the Idol winner, Jordan didn’t look sad at all! Instead, his face lit up with a huge smile. He gave Hannah a giant hug while the crowd cheered. Jordan and Hannah became best friends during the show. In fact, just the day before the finale, Jordan wrote a kind note online to Hannah and the other finalist, Keyla Richardson, to wish them a happy Mother’s Day!
Even though Jordan was the “runner-up,” he still got a massive prize. Both he and Hannah are going on a Disney Cruise to Alaska! Each person gets to bring three friends or family members. This vacation was gifted to them by the Idol!

After the show, Jordan talked about how happy he was. He said the show felt like a big family. He told reporters that seeing everyone love and support each other is exactly what the world needs right now. Jordan also posted an online message thanking God for his life and journey.
Jordan’s story shows us that you don’t have to come in first place to be a winner. By being kind and working hard, he made new friends and started a brand-new career. We can’t wait to see what songs Jordan and Hannah sing next!
