The streets of Pensacola, Florida, were filled with music, laughter, and a whole lot of love this week! Thousands of people gathered for “KeylaFest” to welcome home their very own star, Keyla Richardson.
As one of the Top 3 finalists on the big stage, Keyla came back to the place where it all started for a celebration she will never forget.
The day was packed with excitement. There was a huge parade with bands and fans wearing black and yellow to show their support. Keyla even received a “Key to the City” from the Mayor! It was a beautiful sight to see a local hero being honored by everyone who knew her before she was famous. While Keyla was the main attraction, someone else managed to steal the spotlight for a moment. Her young son, Drew, took the stage and proved that talent definitely runs in the family! Drew has been by his mother’s side through every step of her journey, often seen cheering her on from the audience.
Drew (Keyla’s Son) Singing
During the hometown concert, Drew stepped up to the microphone and sang “Tennessee Whiskey” by Chris Stapleton. The crowd went wild! He was so confident and sang so well that he made everyone in the audience smile. When Keyla finally joined him on stage, it was a moment that brought tears to many eyes.
Even though most fans loved seeing the mother-and-son duo, not everyone was happy. Some critics are starting to whisper that Keyla might be using Drew to help her win. They say that these emotional family moments are just a way to get more votes before the final show.
These critics think the “cute kid” videos are a trick to make people feel happy and click the vote button. However, Keyla’s fans say that Drew is just a big part of her life, and it’s only natural for him to be there.
Keyla has faced significant backlash online, but through it all, she has stayed strong and kept singing her heart out. She has proven that she can handle the pressure and keep moving forward!
Will the hometown love and the sweet moments with her son be enough to help her win the whole thing? We will have to wait and see! One thing is for sure: Pensacola is already proud of its “Hometown Idol,” no matter what happens in the finale.
