The clock is ticking! With the American Idol Season 24 finale only one week away, the pressure is moving from the stage to your smartphone!
As we head into the semifinals, two singers will be sent home, leaving only three to fight for the crown on May 11. But this year, the “Voting System” has changed, and one small mistake could send a superstar packing.
This season, you can’t just send a text or press a button in an app. American Idol has moved its voting to social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook. To vote, you have to leave comments on the official pinned posts from the @AmericanIdol accounts.
Because the rules are so strict, many fans are accidentally “throwing away” their votes. Here is the simple guide to making sure your favorite stays safe:
The “Do” List:
- Write 10 separate comments on each platform (TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook).
- Type only the contestant’s name (for example: “HANNAH”).
- Make sure you comment only on the Official Pinned Post.
The “Don’t” List:
- Don’t put two names in one comment (like “Hannah and Keyla”).
- Don’t misspell names (typing “GORDAN” instead of “JORDAN” means the vote is lost!).
- Don’t use hashtags or emojis in your voting comment.
- Don’t reply to other people; the computer only counts new comments.
American Idol 2026 VOTE: Major Changes in Season 24 | Text, Online, Social Media Voting
Even with the voting confusion, the numbers tell an interesting story. Right now, Hannah Harper is the one to beat. She is the massive frontrunner, with over 71% odds of winning! Her videos are getting tens of thousands of views, and she has almost 400,000 followers on Instagram.
While Hannah is leading the pack, Keyla Richardson is right on her heels with huge support from the live audience. Jordan McCullough also has a lot of “momentum” after winning a Platinum Ticket earlier this year.
However, things are looking scary for Braden Rumfelt and Chris Tungseth. Because their social media following is lower than others, they are the most “vulnerable.” This means if their fans make even one mistake with the new voting rules, they could be the ones going home tonight.
For the last two nights, a single correctly spelled name could be the difference between a singer going to the finale or going back home. Make sure you check your spelling and follow the rules before the voting window slams shut!
