He was so incredibly good that the judges couldn’t get enough. After his first song, they actually begged him to sing a second one! Brooks pulled out his guitar and performed a soulful version of Bob Dylan’s legendary hit, “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door.” The room went silent as he showcased an “old soul” sound that you just don’t hear much anymore.

Luke Bryan was so blown away that he gave Brooks the ultimate compliment. He compared the young singer to the legendary Van Morrison! The judges even called him a “unicorn” because his style is a total one-of-one. You have to hear the grit and passion in his voice to believe it. It is the kind of talent that makes you want to turn the volume all the way up.

The most heartwarming part wasn’t just the music, though. Brooks admitted he has always been very shy and insecure. Seeing the look on his face when he realized he belonged was so pure.
