John Foster’s “The Chair” Is Making Nashville Do a Double Take

Most nineteen-year-olds would crumble under the weight of a George Strait classic song called The Chair. But John Foster just proved the ‘Old School’ soul is alive in 2026. This biology student from Addis, Louisiana, spent his days working at his family’s meat market before becoming the runner up on American Idol

And now he is making Nashville veterans do a double take with his rich, baritone twang. You have to see how this kid commands a professional studio with nothing but a white hat and a voice that sounds like fifty years of experience. It is a rare sight to see a teenager choose grit and substance over a flashy pop sound.

The internet is currently on fire as people cannot believe a kid this young has so much King George in his blood. One viewer noted that his voice is a memory from a better time. Another fan said that he is carrying a torch for a generation that misses real music.

After proving he could master the quiet intimacy of a studio, John stepped out into the California sun for a massive national milestone. He traded the studio walls for the 137th Rose Parade in Pasadena, California, on New Year’s Day. This was the moment he showed the world that his voice is big enough to fill the streets of Colorado Boulevard just as easily as a small room in Tennessee.

Standing atop the ‘Gulf to Gumbo’ float, he delivered a high energy version of a song called Jambalaya that had millions of people dancing in their living rooms. He looked completely at home in front of the massive crowds and television cameras.  It was a victory lap for a kid who stays true to his roots no matter how famous he gets.

John Foster is officially the new King of Country Soul. He bridges the gap between the legends and the new era. His journey from the meat market to the Grand Ole Opry is just getting started. Follow John Foster on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube to keep up with his incredible story.
