Grandad’s Guitar Lessons That Took An 11 Year Old To TV History

It started in a small living room in Wrexham, with a little boy, a grandad, and an electric guitar.

Olly Pearson was only seven when his grandfather, Lee, began teaching him classic rock riffs over Zoom during lockdown. Lesson after lesson, they worked through Angus Young licks, Queen runs, and those huge stadium chords that once lived only on old records and family speakers.

For Lee, it was sharing the music he grew up with. For Olly, it was like discovering a secret superpower.

Fast forward a few years and that private world suddenly opened on the biggest talent stage in Britain. The shy kid from Wrexham walked out with his Patrick James Eggle guitar and turned a quiet family hobby into a full arena roar.

The judges did not just see “a cute kid who can play fast.” They saw control, tone, and confidence that usually takes decades. One Golden Buzzer would have been a dream. Olly earned two. In one season. From two different judges.

The platform rose. AC/DC, Guns N’ Roses, Bon Jovi all came alive through the hands of an eleven-year-old boy who once practiced in his grandad’s front room.

OLLY PEARSON – Rocking With a world of confidence

Olly walks out looking like any other nervous kid, then calmly says he wants to be the best guitarist in the world. Seconds later he is tearing through Queen, Van Halen, and AC/DC in one wild medley that sounds far too big for someone his size. When Amanda slams the Golden Buzzer, you can almost feel every grandad and parent cheering with her.

Olly rides a rising platform, fires sparks from his guitar, and tears through Bon Jovi, AC/DC, and Guns N’ Roses like he has lived on stage for years. When Simon hits that second Golden Buzzer, Olly breaks down and points straight to Lee in the crowd.
