When The “King Of Pop” Finally Got To Feel Like A Kid

Most people know Michael Jackson as a global icon. In this small home movie, you see something very different. Surrounded by children at his Neverland home, he laughs, plays, and lets go of the pressure that stole his childhood.

His childhood was stolen from him.

The kids gang up on him and he shouts, “I am a nice person, I just took a shower and I washed my hair thoroughly.” A second later, they push him into the water. He comes up soaking wet, screaming and laughing like a little boy who finally got his turn to play.

To some people, it looks like a superstar acting silly. To many fans, it feels like something much deeper. This is a child inside a grown body trying to live the life he never had.

That is why he built Neverland in the first place. The rides, the zoo animals, the movie theater with candy and beds for sick children were not for show. They were his way of creating a safe world where fun, kindness and playtime finally came first.

That quick push into the pool is only one small piece of a much bigger story. In the full home movie from Neverland, you see that it was not a one time joke, but a whole day built around water fights, Christmas decorations, and loud, joyful chaos. Michael runs with Super Soaker water guns, chases guests across the yard, and lets the kids soak him until he is dripping and breathless from laughter.
