From the ground, those floating shots look like pure movie magic.Carrie performed her own stunts for the video hanging high above the Los Angeles Theatre, clipped into a trapeze rig. Between takes she laughs and calls the stunt “surprisingly hard” before climbing right back up again.
The crew filmed Ghost Story inside the historic 1931 Los Angeles Theatre, which features crystal chandeliers, marble details, and gold everywhere you look. Director Randee St. Nicholas leans into a Moulin Rouge style mood, turning Carrie into the woman who walked away while her ex is stuck with the memory.
The wild part is that those aerial moments are all her. No stunt double, just the training she built during her REFLECTION Las Vegas residency and a lot of trust in the harness. By the end of the night there are sore shoulders, red marks, and a country superstar who decided her revenge song should leave real bruises under the rhinestones.
Carrie Underwood – Ghost Story (Behind The Scenes)
In the finished Ghost Story music video, the Los Angeles Theatre now turns into a haunted dream, with lights and shadows that make Carrie glow like she is not quite real. The storyline finally comes into focus. You see the ex walking through mirrors and hallways he cannot escape, chased by the memory he tried to leave behind.
Carrie Underwood – Ghost Story (Official Music Video)
The wild part is that Carrie did not leave that trapeze in the music video. She took it with her on the road. For the CMT Music Awards, she brings Ghost Story into her Las Vegas REFLECTION world, singing while wrapped in aerial silks, high above the stage.
