That man was Richard Goodall, a longtime school janitor with a voice no one expected. A single phone video of him singing “Don’t Stop Believin’” went viral.
That clip carried him all the way to America’s Got Talent. He surprised the judges, earned a Golden Buzzer, and went on to win the entire season. The same quiet janitor walked away with a one-million-dollar prize and the hearts of millions of viewers.

Long before Richard ever stepped onstage, the band that shaped his dreams had already taken a chance on another so-called “ordinary” person. Arnel Pineda, now the lead singer of Journey, once lived on the streets in the Philippines.
Guitarist Neal Schon discovered him after seeing his covers of Journey songs online.
