For anyone who may not be familiar with the song, “Popular” is from the Broadway Musial ‘Wicked.’ The musical started on Broadway with Kristin Chenoweth as Glinda and Idina Menzel as Elphaba. This number features Chenoweth’s character showing Menzel’s character how to be “Popular” in their school, Shiz University.
The song features opera and is considered incredibly difficult to master. Darci Lynne’s cover crystallizes everything that Chenoweth — Glinda down to her signature laugh. So, this cover is crazy good because Darci isn’t even opening her mouth.
